Microsoft HoloLens 2 is Coming - This Will be Awesome for the AEC Industry!

Coming soon... a more powerful HoloLens with a "greatly increased" field of view! Including more natural use of hands to interact with holograms and eye tracking.

I have written a number of posts about our professional, on real-world projects, use of the HoloLens in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry; see a list of links below. We have two Microsoft HoloLens devices with the Trimble hardhat (original versions for both, of course).

I am super excited to get my hands on the new Microsoft HoloLens 2 and test it out! And, not that this was too hard to predict, but I did in this Enscape blog post:)

"Immersion is greatly enhanced by advancements across the board, including in the visual display system, making holograms even more vibrant and realistic. We have more than doubled the field of view in HoloLens 2, while maintaining the industry-leading holographic density of 47 pixels per degree of sight. HoloLens 2 contains a new display system that enables us to achieve these significant advances in performance at low power."
I have written about the Trimble hardhat, and they are upping their game with a complete HoloLens 2 unit integrated into the hardhat. Read more about that here: Microsoft and Trimble made a hard hat with HoloLens built-in. What a beautiful design!
