Link to Recording - Getting Started with Building Performance Simulation in Revit

We had a great turn out yesterday for the webinar titled Getting Started with Building Performance Simulation in Revit. Over 600 people signed up... and about 250 logged in live. For those who could not make it, the presentation was recorded and available via the link below.

Here is what Noah said about the presentation:
"I thought you did a great job showing the many strengths of Insight, as well as its ease of use, while still being fair about its several shortcomings." comments in this post

In this course Michael presented a high level introduction to the concept of performance simulation, touched on some research and statics around early energy modeling and listed some of the tools used by architects.

Next, I talked about the workflow I have been advocating for a couple years now; Autodesk Revit + Autodesk Insight. I touched on Revit automating the energy analysis model creation (see image below), Insight being ASHRAE 140 validated and scalable; from massing, to building elements, to heating and cooling set points via Revit MEP Zones. The best part is all of this is "free" if you have Revit, as there are no cloud credits required for running energy analysis with Insight!

If you want to roll up your sleeves and dig in more on the Revit + Insight workflow, I created a course hosted on ArchSmarter called Dynamic Energy Optimization.

Course details:
  • Online and self-paced course
  • 7 in-depth lessons
  • 14 videos (over 1 hour of instruction)
  • 100+ page PDF
  • Price is $49 (until August 16th)
