One Button Shortcuts in Revit

Did you know you can have 'one button shortcuts' in Revit?

Normally, Revit requires two buttons for any shortcut (MV for move, CO for copy etc). However, these commands are used so often it would be faster to just have one button (M, C, ..).

If you try to change the shortcut to M, it will still require you to hit space or enter before activating the command. That's because there are other shortcuts that start with an M (MM for mirror) and Revit is waiting to see whether it's M you want or MM. 

If you prefer a one button shortcut, just make sure you only have one shortcut that starts with that letter. So in our example with move, remove all other shortcuts that start with an M (MA, MM, ...).

To access the Keyboard shortcuts, browse to the location shown above, on the View tab. The keyboard shortcuts dialog shown below is where you make the suggested changes.

One last interesting item... the Revit tool tips show the keyboard shortcut for commands that have them, as shown in the first iamge below. Interestingly, these tool tips are dynamic and change if you change the keyboard shortcut as shown in the last image.
