Dell Visits Lake|Flato with Video Production Crew!

Last week, Dell visited Lake|Flato for two full days to begin producing a video capturing our firm culture, our newly remodeled San Antonio office, and the technology strategy we've implemented that revolves around all things Dell.

I will share some behind-the-scenes photos and a few polished teasers from the production company in today's post.

Our technology strategy was developed (mostly) from the ground up with our office remodel, emphasizing collaborative/hybrid work. This strategy started during the pandemic, which was partially documented in this 2020 Dell blog post: Design from the Home Office.

Our strategy is unique... from "wireless" nearly-everything: including VR, Tablets, and conference rooms. In fact, we don't even have network cables going to the desks! Our designers can take their tablets, connected via VMware Horizons to a high-powered Dell Precision workstation, anywhere in the office and courtyard. They even have a display and docking station at home. Oh, and they can sketch on the tablets and the Dell interactive touch displays in every conference room.

Dell and the Production Team

Dell hired the media agency, Storybuilder Creative, who captured video of the office and our designers working and sharing what they do via interviews. The four-person production crew was amazing... it was so fun to see production professionals doing their thing with crazy cool-looking equipment.

Of course, the product of all this hard work is a month or two out, but I have some fun behind-the-scenes photos to share.

In this first photo, I am with Ken Flannigan, AECO Alliances and Solutions at Dell Technologies (right), and Tyler Campbell, CEO at Storybuilder Creative (center).

Here is the pic with the full production crew (from left to right):

Day One

The first day was interview day, each in a unique and interesting location in the office. The team spent quality time setting you the space for optimal sound and lighting.

The first interview was with our design performance manager, Kate Sector.

This portable display showing a live feed from the main camera was super cool.

The following interview was with project director, Adie Hailat.

The third interview was with designer, Melina Phillips.

Day Two

The second day was mostly b-roll footage and me walking around the office talking about our technology strategy.

B-roll shots included...

Staff and guests to our office arrive through the courtyard.

We have some great outdoor spaces.

Conference rooms supporting hybrid work, sketching (with wireless screen sharing via Zoom Rooms technology). The conference rooms all have two displays, one for presenting/sketching and the other for people's faces. These rooms have no keyboard/mouse or HDMI cables.

Here is some footage from the lobby, including the "guard dog" who greets guests most days!

All of the desks are checkout desks facilitated by Flowscape.

Sketching on a live Enscape view is fun...

Wireless VR via a dedicated WIFI router powered by a high-powered Dell Precision workstation, all tucked away in the cabinet below the display.

Last but not least... here I am being filmed walking around the office, talking specifically about tech.

To close out this post, here are a few teaser images Tyler sent over the day after the shoot (click to enlarge)!
