Yulio now supports 360 video... today's post is about that and includes a sample of Lake|Flato's office in San Antonio, Texas.
What is Yulio
I need to do a post on just what Yulio is, but for now, here is my brief description if you are not already aware:
Yulio is a cloud-based tool that allows rendered panos, or 360 photos, to be "stitched" together via hotposts. A Yulio VR experience can be viewed on a computer/mobile device, in Google cardboard, or an Oculus Go (Quest 2 support coming soon, I am told). Once we have a client set up with a device, we can easily push updates during the design process.
There are a number of other Yulio features, but I will save those for a future post.
The 360 Camera
Most of the time we are rendering panoramas from Enscape. However, if you have a 360 camera, like the one shown below, you can use those (still images) in Yulio as well. This is great for promoting built work to prospective clients.
FYI: The camera pictured is an Instra360 OneR.
On a related note, here is an Enscape blog post I wrote on using the 360 camera to create a custom skybox in your renderings: How to Create a Custom Skybox in Enscape.
360 Video Support
Recently, Yulio started supporting 360 video. The link below shows an example of our office in San Antonio, TX... which is 99% empty due to the pandemic. I am in the blue shirt, pretending to work at a nearby desk.
Be sure to click the hotspot to jump inside the lobby.

In this case, the video is always from a fixed location. Using software like Autodesk's 3DS Max, or similar, it is possible to render 360 video from a design model. However, this is not possible with Enscape. Personally, I don't think there is enough value in that given the cost in effort and time. However, having the exterior vegetation gently blowing in the wind would be nice.
360 Video Voice Narration
Our 360 camera supports Bluetooth headset/earbuds which allow a presenter to talk about a built space while walking around!
Fun stuff.
