NREL Partnership Strengthens Integration of Analytics and Building Design

The National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) posted an article highlighting their partnership with Autodesk around the new Systems Analysis feature in Revit 2020.1. Today's post covers that and related resources on this new feature.

This new feature...

Dunwoody Presentation - Enscape plus Bonus HoloLens 2 Demo

I presented at the Dunwoody School of Architecture in Minneapolis Minnesota yesterday, February 6, 2020. I covered using Enscape with Revit for real-time visualization. I also demo'ed the new Trimble XR10 with Microsoft HoloLens 2 device, letting the students know how augmented reality can be used in architectural design and on the construction site.

I ♥ Architecture and Interior Design Education

I love teaching, both professionally and academically... I find it very rewarding to share knowledge, as you might guess if you follow this blog. In return I continually learn new things myself, and gain satisfaction from helping others with their professional development. And, as Randy Deutsch exclaimed the other day in this tweet, it is great to receive thanks from students occasionally.

This week and next I will be presenting at the two architecture schools in Minnesota; Dunwoody College of Technology and the University of Minnesota. Today's post is just a quick mention with posts to follow after each event.

Thanks to LHB for supporting education through hiring (paid!) interns, attending career fairs, hosting student visits, and accommodating staff who wish to teach like myself (NDSU), Miguel Proa (Dunwoody), Casey Goldberg (UofM-Duluth).

Revit 2020.2 Issue

Alert for those using Revit 2020... note that, according to Autodesk, this only affects a small percentage of customers.

Update (2/8/2020): A hotfix is not available for download (378 MB); 2020.2.1 Release notes

Sasha Crotty, Sr. Product Manager, Revit Platform & Services at Autodesk, just posted the following on Twitter:

"Late last week, we reproduced a defect in Revit 2020.2 that can cause families to go missing in models that have been modified in multiple Revit versions. Out of caution we have temporarily removed the 2020.2 updates while we work on a fix. More info coming shortly." Click here to go to tweet

Brian Mackey replied and suggested (which he learned from Aaron Maller, see comments below)...

"If 2020.2 is installed it is recommended that ALL users open the project with Audit."

Update (from Sasha): "Unfortunately this issue is not prevented by opening the model with Audit. However, that does help identify if there are families already missing in the model."

We have the 2020.2 update installed and I am not away of any issues...
