This post is a continuation / follow up to the post I wrote earlier this week on creating a sheet index that tracks multiple bid packs; click here to read that. When using something like this, or any shared parameters, you sometimes need to share that information with other firms, or in-house disciplines, you are working with. This post will share an easy way to achieve this.

The hard way of doing this is to send your Shared Parameters file and have someone open their model and manually create Project Parameters using the specific Shared Parameters from your file. They also have to select the correct Revit Categories. This can take some time and leaves room for error.
A much easier way is to use a schedule to transmit the data. Here's how...
Right-click on the schedule in the Project Browser and select Save to New File. If you don't have a schedule for this information, create one and delete it after the export. The result is an RVT project file which only contains the definition of the schedule.
Send that 408 KB file to everyone with the following instructions...
In another Revit project file, select Insert > Insert from File > Insert Views from File
Browse to the RVT file and click Open, to select it. You will see the following dialog with the single option, your schedule, already selected. Just click OK here.
That's it! The Shared Project Parameters are properly defined in the new project, and you did not even have to send the Shared Parameters file. At this point, if desired, the schedule could be deleted and the new parameter would persist.
