Remodels and Alternates in Revit MEP - Free Course on YouTube

The first of three courses I am making available for free is now fully uploaded: Remodels and Alternates in Revit MEP! This includes a download link with sample files to follow along... including:
  • 21 Videos
  • 2.0 hours
  • 1 PDF handout
  • Several required/resource files
Although this course focuses on MEP there are many topics and concepts that any Revit user can benefit from including, for example, managing view settings for multi-model projects using phasing and/or design options.

This is a course originally sold on ArchSmarter and is now made available for free on YouTube.

Most of the content is still completely relevant, but there are a few things that have changed due to Revit enhancements and new features.

Most notably is that MEP logical systems are not removed from a system when elements are set to be demolished (e.g. the CFM of an air terminal is not automatically removed from the system at a VAV/AHU). I still do not fully understand the reasoning behind this change, but I'll save that for another day/post and hope to hear others weigh in on this (some of you must like it because my friends at Autodesk said this was highly requested).

In case you are not familiar with my experience in the MEP arena, I was on a small team of 5 people at my previous firm that invented and fully created the original Electrical Productivity Pack for Revit MEP back in 2012... this evolved into the MEP Productivity Pack (search this blog for "EPP" and "MEPPP") that is still enhanced and sold today, although, since leaving that firm I am no longer involved in it. To learn more about that product, click here. We even won an ACEC-MN award for the MEPPP in 2019, as I wrote about here: ACEC-MN 2019 Award.
