In Autodesk Revit, walls clean up regardless of phase. For example, in the example below, the new wall cleans up (i.e. joins) with the existing wall. This is often not desirable as we want the contractor to clearly see the transition between new and existing in the printed drawings; there is a construction joint here that needs to be considered.

There is an easy solution to this problem. Unfortunately it is a manual effort at each condition. Simply select the wall, and then right-click on the end-grip as shown in the next image. Next, select Disallow Join from the pop-up menu.
The wall is now un-joined and likely positioned precariously, as shown here.
Simply drag the wall's end grip to the desired location. The wall now appears as we want it in the printed drawings. It would be better if the line between the two walls was a lighter lineweight but that is not possible with this workflow. There are other workflows, more complicated, that could achieve this effect.
To get the walls to join again, simple right-click on the end-grip and select Allow Join.
