Vote for Autodesk University 2022 Class Proposals - Help Shape the Conference

Did you know you can upvote proposed sessions for Autodesk University 2022? Today's post shares the new non-Vegas location, a link to site, and the two sessions I proposed;)

keep reading to learn more...

New Location

This year, for the first time since 2005, Autodesk University will not be hosted in Las Vegas. It will be in New Orleans! Which means its an in-person event!

It sounds like it will move around each year, like other conferences (AIA, Greenbuild, Lightfair, BILT, etc.). My first AU was in 2005, which was hosted at Walt Disney World in Florida... I brought my family. Classes all day and Magic Kingdom until 2am!

Vote for Proposed Sessions

Here is the introduction from the AU proposals page...
"What leading insights and ideas matter most to you and your business? What case studies, workflows, and technologies do you want to know more about? Vote for the sessions you want to see at the 2022 conference.

You can vote for new proposals as soon as they’re submitted, so visit often. Want to submit your own session? Call for Proposals is open until April 15.

Note that community recommendations are just one aspect of the proposal review process."

My Session Proposals

Here are the two sessions/links I submitted:

AS500809, Traditional access to high quality virtual reality (VR) in architecture has been limited due to computer and graphics hardware not being easily portable for the complex non-gaming environments created by architects and engineers. Related, software developers would often sacrifice visual quality to maintain decent framerates. All of this, along with a tethered head mounted display (HMD) significantly limited VR adoption within the field of architecture.

This session will show how a top-ranked US-based architecture firm is leveraging NVIDIA CloudXR to deliver VR, which compliments an office wide tablet-based device paired with a VDI solution for high powered processing and real-time rendering. We will show a current project, using Autodesk Revit, we are working on, in another State, and how we use Amazon AWS instances and the real-time rendering Engine, Enscape – which leverages NVIDIA RTX RT and Tensor cores, as well as DLSS.

Advanced Energy Modeling for Architects - Using Revit and Systems Analysis

AS500970, This session will cover advanced topics used by a top ranked US-based architecture firm that has won more AIA Top Ten COTE awards than any other firm. Learn to create accurate models in Revit that will translate into quality results in Autodesk Insight and Systems Analysis, and how the same inputs and energy analysis model (EAM) can be used from concept (early massing) to more detailed analysis (Revit elements and Spaces).

Advanced workflows will be shared, such as creating custom schematic wall types by editing an xml file. The ability to create accurate assemblies (i.e. Revit wall type) with thermal properties that match manufacturer data, resulting in thermal resistance and capacity data used in the EnergyPlus engine.

Learn to develop internal loads per space, including schedules and set points. Plus, properly creating multiple systems, e.g. VRF, DOAS, and RTU. Then, the calculation will be done locally using Open Studio and EnergyPlus, resulting in a detailed report within Revit.

Going, not going... vote either way

Be sure to check out the site and vote for the sessions you would like to see. I recommend voting, even if you don't plan on attending AU in-person as they often make the recorded sessions available afterwards.
