The handout for my Autodesk University 2021 session, on implementing early energy modeling, was recently turned into an article and published on Autodesk's site.

One of the strategies in the Framework for Design Excellence, developed by AIA COTE, is Designing for Energy. This article can help firms more fully explore and achieve a low or zero energy goal.

Implementing a new technology or workflow in a firm can be challenging. There are many factors to consider and potential obstacles to overcome. In this article, I share how Lake|Flato adopted Insight building performance analysis software to more fully embrace early energy modeling across the firm.

This is a topic I very much enjoy speaking on. In 2018 I presented this session in Ljubljana Slovenia and earned the #2 speaker slot for the BILT conference. I have also presented on early energy modeling, in general, at:
  • Minnesota AIA Convention (Session rating: 4.5/5)
  • AIA COTE Working Group - Philly
  • AIA COTE Working Group - New Orleans
  • AIA San Antonio - 3 hour workshop
