Revit Structural Enhancements in the 2019.2 Update

I wrote about the Structural Precast Extension when it came out for Revit 2018, you can read that here: Autodesk Structural Precast Extension for Revit 2018

Revit 2019.2 lists some additional precast families in the features list: "Added new precast hollow core slab families".

Update: I found out this was a mistake in the Revit 2019.2 new features list. These do only come with the extension update discussed in this post.

Read on to learn more...

Turns out the content only shows up when you install the Precast Extension. Once you have done that you can find some new families here (on your local hard drive):

C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\Structural Precast for Revit 2019\Families\en\Other Families.zip

Here is the precast extension tab on the Ribbon.

Here is a comparison of the imperial and metric 'structural framing' folders... notice metric has a lot more options. Additionally, the precast extension only works with metric content.

Here are a few placed examples. In three of these, I placed one of the void families found in that folder. Those, apparently, are just the shared nested family inside the planks. But, as you can see they can be used to create a penetration... always fun to do in a pre-stressed member. Oddly, the voids nested in the planks do not appear to work properly.

All of these families are in the Generic Model category... notice the helpful Valid widths type parameter.

Now you know...
