Lake|Flato Architects (www.lakeflato.com) is a nationally
recognized architectural design firm based in San Antonio,
Texas. A leader in sustainability, we are seeking an
enthusiastic, proactive professional who could immediately
fill the full-time Design Performance Intern position.
All Lake|Flato employees are working remotely for the
foreseeable future, so this position will also be performed
remotely. The Design Performance Intern reports to
the firm’s Director of Design Performance and Design
Performance Coordinator, and works closely with other
Lake|Flato design performance experts and project teams
on a broad range of tasks, with core responsibilities of:
- Assisting the sustainability team with energy and daylighting simulation, project team coordination, and post-occupancy evaluation
- Supporting sustainability certification (such as WELL, Zero Carbon, CORE, LEED, and Living Building Challenge) documentation and support for project teams
- Help track and maintain project/design data required for 2030 Commitment reporting
- Assisting marketing team with project/design data for COTE Top 10, AIA Honor Awards, and other industry recognition programs
- Assisting Design Performance Coordinator in maintaining in-house sustainability resources and processes
- Assisting Director of Design Technology with various design technology tools like virtual reality, augmented reality, and 3-D printing
- Providing content for social media on sustainability topics
- Bachelor’s degree (completed or in process) in architecture, engineering, or related field
- Prior experience in building science and sustainable design, including passive and climate-specific strategies and renewable energy systems a plus
- Experience using Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, and Microsoft Excel
- Prior experience with building performance simulation for daylight, energy, embodied carbon, water, and ventilation (or an interest in learning)
- Preferred experience with Rhino/Grasshopper or Revit/ Dynamo
- Proactive self-starter with strong organization and multi-tasking capabilities
- Strong skills in data organizing and graphic representation with software such as Adobe Creative Suite
