Did you know Lake|Flato has a blog? We recently made a push to publish more often, and now we have enough new content to promote it to the world:) That is the topic of today's post, which includes my contributions, thus far:
- TOOLS OF THE TRADE – PHOTOVOLTAIC/SOLAR SIMULATION AT LAKE|FLATO ARCHITECTS
- LAKE|FLATO'S JUST LABEL
The Lake|Flato blog has been around since 2014, and is organized into the following four categories:
- Community e.g. Investigations: Eco-Senior Living
- Performance e.g. Design performance at Lake|Flato
- Culture e.g. Architecture to Connect: Egypt
- Projects e.g. A look Inside Hotel Magdalena
Regarding the blog name, Lake|Flato is a dog friendly office... there is literally always at least one dog in the office everyday:) This dog, named Cash, guards the lobby and reception desk!
So far, I have contributed two posts...
TOOLS OF THE TRADE – PHOTOVOLTAIC/SOLAR SIMULATION AT LAKE|FLATO ARCHITECTS
Incorporating renewable energy, such as Photovoltaic (PV) panels, into a building design is a highly effective strategy for improve building performance -- including a reduced power bill -- and reduced on-site fossil fuel consumption. Therefore, we strive to run a simulation on every project to facilitate a discussion with our clients around PV potential for a specific project even though every Lake|Flato project does not always include them.
This post will highlight our process, including our simulation tool, how we calculate the energy offset, and PV array size.
LAKE|FLATO'S JUST LABEL
Lake|Flato has a Just. label through the International Living Future Institute (ILFI). This post is about what the Just. label is and shares our label.
