I recently had the opportunity to be a guest on INSIDE THE FIRM the podcast hosted by Alex Gore. In today's post, learn about this episode and a recent/previous one with one of the founders of KPF...
Both Alex and Lance Cayko, principles of F9 Productions and hosts of the podcast, are alum of NDSU, where I currently teach (both from before my time at the school). I recently saw a presentation they gave to current students at the architecture school and was very impressed with what they have accomplished post academia! Especially since they graduated in 2008, during a rather bad recession.
Here is the podcast description of this episode:
"Dan Stine has an amazing career in the architecture and BIM. He is an Design Technologist for Lake Flato, an adjunct at North Dakota State University, an author of over 11 textbooks, and a frequent speaker at Autodesk University. Join us as we dive into the work flow of Lake Flato, the future of tech, and chat about technology."

Monday Morning Coffee with Bill Pederson
Previous to mine... a great talk with KPF founder Bill Pederson... and he spoke of the Shanghai Financial Center which I have seen in person, and he even discussed the interesting story (which I previously heard) about the problem with the original design... of a circle apparatus and why it had to change to a rectangle... he even talked about furniture design.... and that, like me, he is originally from Minnesota.
Here is the podcast description of this episode:
"Bill is a founding partner of Kohn, Pedersen, Fox (KPF), and author of the new book Gesture and Response. In this episode we get behind the scenes stories of famous buildings such as the: Shanghai World Financial Center, 333 Wacker Drive, and Hudson Yards. We also explore Bill's furniture design and philosophy on how the Architecture business works."
