Revit Kid - live tonight! We are talking Energy Analysis in Revit (Insight 360)

What are you doing this evening at 8pm central time? I am joining Jeffrey Pinheiro again, on his YouTube channel BIM After Dark. Live. (Episode 65).

Connect live and ask questions!

keep reading to learn more...

This session is going to be so awesome, it already has 8 likes on YouTube... lol. The best thing about attending live is you can ask questions. The same link will also provide access to the recording, after the show.

I am super passionate about this topic. We do a lot of early energy modeling at Lake|Flato... and our workflow is what I will be covering.

According to the AIA 2030 Commitment annual report, By the Numbers, "energy modeling is essential" and "projects that used energy modeling were 32% more energy efficient than non-modeled projects."

Energy Analysis in Revit (Insight 360) w/Dan Stine

------------

Here is the description from YouTube:

On this episode of BIM After Dark Live I will be joined by Dan Stine of Lake|Flato Architect's to talk about Energy Analysis in Revit.
Personally, I have not done an energy analysis of a Revit model since the "Green Building Studio" days and I am very excited to see how things have changed, the workflows, and the tools.
Dan is going to walk through some of the following topics...
- Brief primer on Lake|Flato's goals around building performance
- Introduction to Revit + Insight for early energy modeling
- Understand why you can trust the results
- The importance of baselines; ASHRAE 90.1, Architecture 2030 (Zero Tool)
- Learn how to interpret the results and act on them
- Best of all, see the workflow in action!!!
Sit back, relax, and let's geek out!

Presentations

I have presented on this topic a lot:)
  • AIA COTE Philly Working Group, presented on early energy modeling
  • AIA COTE New Orleans Working Group, two separate presentations
  • AIA COTE San Antonio Working Group, three-hour workshop
  • Pratt Institute, student lead Pratt Futures, presented on energy, lighting, and carbon
  • University of Michigan, presented on energy, lighting, and carbon
  • University of Minnesota, present annually on lighting design
  • University of Texas at San Antonio, multiple presentations on energy and lighting
  • Autodesk University 2021, Implementing Early Energy Modeling
  • Multiple RTC/BILT conferences, incl. Ljubljana Slovenia (#2 speaker)
  • AIA Minnesota Convention, 2017 on energy modeling, 2018 on lighting for architects

Education

I teach this topic to graduate architecture students in my class at NDSU. I also created a course you can buy/take here: https://learn.archsmarter.com/courses/energy-modeling
