Revit Material Return at Wall Openings

Revit provides a method to better control a wall's material return at openings... this is the topic of today's post, which includes a how-to video.

Revit openings, doors and windows, can have up to two reference planes which can be used to control the position of the layers set to wrap in the wall type. In the example below, the same door family is controlling the brick and gyp. bd. materials differently for each door, and each side of the door as well.


I mentioned this function in this previous post: Revit 2018.1 - New Content, Part 2. coincidentally, I worked with Steven Campbell on this while he was at Autodesk, as this was his project. Fastforward, and we both work together here at Lake|Flato Architects.
