Revit's (Hidden-ish) Focal Length Tool for 3D Views

Today's post will cover changing the camera's Focal Length in a 3D view within Revit. This command is a little hard to find. Plus, a tip on making the camera visible in a plan view after initial creation.

The Focal Length tool is essential a zoom for the camera lens... where the camera does not move. The image above shows where I started, for this demo (click to enlarge images in this post).

To change the Focal Length, start the Steering Wheel tool, and then click the down-arrow in the lower right (click #1). This menu has the Increase/Decrease Focal Length tool (click #2). Once this tool is started, simply drag up or down (vertically) to adjust the focal length. The next two images show an increase and a decrease of the focal length on this 3D view.

One last tip... in a plan view, if you right-click on the camera view in the project browser, you have an option to Show Camera. Once visible, the camera can be selected and moved or rotated.
