Enscape to VR Basics for Architecture

There are a handful to fundamental steps to help ensure a successful VR experience, whether in the office or away. This is the topic of today's post.

Plus, hear about a free virtual Enscape user group conference, Envision'21, I will be presenting at later this month.

Here are the tips I give our design staff, here at Lake|Flato, to help ensure a successful VR experience. We don't want to waste the team's time or inconvenience our clients with technology issues.

Export an Enscape EXE

I recommend exporting the Enscape model to an EXE file (see image above). This accomplishes several things, such as:
  • No Revit/SketchUp/Rhino/Enscape license is required
  • All materials are captured within the EXE
  • All linked models are captured within the EXE
  • Enscape opens faster

Create Wayfinding Views

Star the views you want to show up in VR, or on-screen (see second image below). Within VR, you can also see these views and jump to another location, rather than having to walk down a corridor and up stairs.

Toggle on VR

With a VR headset properly setup and connected to a capable computer, simply toggle on VR within Enscape.

Enscape Envision'21

Have you signed up for the free Enscape global user group meeting later this month? I will be doing a session, on the first day, called Maximize VR Potential. I will be covering some exciting new developments in VR.
