Revit 2019.1 has a new Home page/screen when the application is opened. At first blush you may just think it is a UI refresh... and while that is partially true, it also has a couple of interesting new features.
First, the previews only show Central models (and non-workshared models). No locals files will ever be shown here! Not only that, but when you click on a preview for a central file, it creates a local file!!! In the past, I have always recommenced you never ever touch the previews. Not anymore!
Notice the Central files have a little icon in the lower left....
Additionally...
When you hover over a preview you get file info as shown below; the first one is for a Central model, the second is a non-worksharing model.
The following is a new prompt to let you know a local file will be created. You will probably want to tick the "Don't show again" option.
Then you get the usual option to overwrite or append. Here is a previous post I wrote about this: Create a New Local File Daily (6th most popular post on my blog).
You can get back to the Home page at anytime while using Revit via this new icon on the Quick Access Toolbar.
This new Home page also has hooks into BIM360 Docs and Design. Those previews have a little cloud icon. I am not able to show this right now. Perhaps a future post.
There is one little bug that has been reported and will likely be fixed in the next update... if you double-click super-fast on a preview you will get the warning "Revit does not support more than one command are posted". But, just click Close and it will open as expected.
